Toby is a partner at Bird & Bird in London specialising in high-tech IP disputes and the application of IP rights to data and AI systems. He is the author of the UK chapter of Thompson Reuters’ Trade Secrets Throughout the World and the UK chapter of Kluwer’s Law of Raw Data. Toby was named one of Global Data Review’s ’40 under 40’ data lawyers and has also been recognised by Legal 500 as providing cutting edge advice on copyright and the protection of AI generated works. He is member of AIPPI’s Standing Committee on Digital Economy, a member of the council for AIPPI UK and a tutor in patent law for the University of Oxford’s Postgraduate Diploma in Intellectual Property Law and Practice.
