Dr. Rainer Markfort is Of Counsel at Dentons based in Berlin. His practice comprises compliance and regulatory advice. He supports companies’ management in internal investigations and in setting up compliance management systems. Rainer joined Dentons in 2015 and co-lead the initiative to form the Global Compliance & Investigation Group. In 2019 he accepted to become a Global Director of Client Solutions Innovation in the global innovation team at Dentons. In line with Dentons’ vision of always building the law firm of the future, he helped until 2022 to accelerate innovation and supported creating client facing solutions.
Rainer has been a co-founder and member of the board (2012-2024) of DICO – Deutsches Institut für Compliance e.V. (German Institute for Compliance) and co-heads DICOinnovativ, a project group working on digital compliance solutions. Rainer is also an active member of the Liquid Legal Institute e.V. where he co-heads the Laws & Policies working group. He is a lecturer at the University Viadrina in Frankfurt/Oder, the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management and the German Lawyers Academy. Rainer regularly publishes on innovation topics.
