Joan Purvis is Chair of the Law Society Technology and Law Committee. TALC is one of the expert committees at The Law Society and is at the forefront of technology legal developments as they impact the Legal Profession, Access to Justice and the Rule of Law. TALC focuses on three central work Streams: Law Tech, Data Protection and the Future of Technology and Law. These areas are of increasing significance to the shape of the legal profession: the role of the future lawyer; the changing demands of clients and the broader technology legal and law tech landscape including the post-Brexit environment, data protection, digital trade and the challenges of the pandemic.
Joan is a qualified lawyer, working inhouse. She has a Masters and Doctorate in laws from Tulane University, New Orleans. She has also lectured in law at the Universities of Edinburgh, Dundee and Heriot Watt.
